Who should join?

This informal club is ideal for those who want to enjoy thinking and for those who want to develop their skill at thinking.

The type of thinking in this club are:

1. Concerned with wisdom rather than cleverness.
2. Pursues concept of thinking that requires to get things done.
3. Use thinking in an exploratory way, not to show how bright or right you are.
4. Emphasis on perception.
5. Neutral, objective, positive, has humor, and constructive. Arrogance is the major sin.
6. Focused on how we are thinking about a subject.

Topics about mind mapping and leadership are tackled as well.

Initial thinking topics are based on Edward De Bono's Thinking Course where I found at least 25 thinking skills taught in it.

Thinking Tool #1: PMI
Thinking Tool #2: APC (Alternatives, Possibilities, and Choices)
Thinking Tool #3: Provocation - Stepping Stone Method
Thinking Tool #4: Provocation - Escape Method
Thinking Tool #5: Provocation - Random Stimulation Method
Thinking Tool #6: CAF
Thinking Tool #7: C & S
Thinking Tool #8: Dense reading and dense listening
Thinking Tool #9: AGO (aims, goals, objectives)

I'll be more active here come February as soon as the Busby SEO Test competition is done.

Thinking Tool: AGO (Aims, Goals, Objectives)

In Edward de Bono's Thinking Course there is a tool called AGO (Aims, Goals, Objectives). AGO simply means: ‘What are we trying to do?’ Doing an AGO means listing all the objectives in a certain situation. It can help your thinking if you know exactly what you are trying to achieve. It can also help you to understand other people's thinking if you can see their objectives.

Example:

A developer who is building a large new shopping centre has the objective of making a profit for his corporation… Continue

Thinking Tool #8: Dense reading and dense listening

In Edward De Bono's Thinking Course, there is one tool that challenges to change the way you listen and read. That is dense listening and reading. This is where you are encouraged to listen or read more intently and analyze why it was expressed that way using "could be" and "may be" possible elaborations.

Thinking Tool #7: C & S

In Edward De Bono's Thinking Course, one tool that allows you to consider the things that will happen next as a consequence of a decision is C & S (Consequence & Sequel). Four time zones are suggested: immediate consequence (up to 1 year); short term (1 to 5 years); medium term (5 to 20 years); long term (over 20 years). The time zones can be altered according to the situation.

Thinking Tool #4: Provocation - Escape Method

In Edward De Bono's Thinking Course, one of the three provocation operation cited is the escape method. This is where we identify the main track of our thinking and then to escape from it. A feature can be dropped, altered, or replaced towards achieving the same end desired.

Thinking Tool #5: Provocation - Random Stimulation Method

In Edward De Bono's Thinking Course, one of the three provocation operation cited is the random stimulation method. This is where a word, object, person, among others gets provided at random. From there, create new ideas based on it.

Intelligence can be boosted by several techniques. Also, one can become a near genius if some techniques are followed. Do you agree with me? Can anyone show me these techniques? Thanks
Hi Jim, Nice to have you here. I like that book a lot too. An exercise related to that book
